I am guilty of “dog earring” book pages. Hope this doesn’t take away my book lover status  .

What bad book habits are you guilty of?

Pinky Promise

Hola readers!

Currently have two reads right now: Time’s Convert by Deborah Harkness and Eleanor and Grey by Brittainy Cherry…

Today’s post is about Eleanor and Grey. The two main characters have a pinky promise. You know an author was likely born in the 90s if they use “pinky promise” in the story. Pinky promises were serious growing up…Had a drop of nostalgia, thought I’d share.

When were you born? What are some of your favorite childhood habits, sayings, memories?

Links both books below…

Favorite Authors Anyone?

Books, my GOD why can’t they be reality? Or better yet why can’t I just stay dreaming? *Le sigh* I guess that is another dilemma for another day. Instead of moping about, I need to acknowledge the people making these books. They are the real MVPs. They make my utterly boring life, exciting. They give me the magic I always wanted and hope for the future. But who are my favorite authors? *Drum roll*

Laura Thalassa and JD Robb

JD Robb helped me get through high school with her In Death Series. The camaraderie, the love, the mystery, the bad assness of her characters especially Eve. I read these books anytime I need to feel home.  (And this is one time I am glad I am behind in the series, she has over 30 books now and I have ton to keep returning to when I need it, if she ever stops writing these I literally do not know what I am going to do when I get to the end)

Laura Thalassa is a newer author but Dios Mio, her fantasy, her heroines, her ability to make me lose sleep, the bad assness of her characters (hmm theme going here?). I have devoured all the series  she has brought to fruition.

Just what I need. Thank you ladies, for making characters and plots I can not only relate to but for also giving me an escape from this world.

And btw just finished Laura Thalassa’s last book to her Bargainer Series…. absolutely amazing. So sad it’s over. Can’t wait to see what she does next. Curious about here book?

Here it is:

“Until darkness dies” 😉  *Read Laura’s Bargainer’s series and you will understand. 😉 *

Random Findings

Currently reading The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen, and I’ve had the decent find of coconut cake and fried chicken being associated with funerals. You can’t be serious?! Coconut is my favorite!Guess it really is to die for! *dorky laugh*

In order to know what the heck I’m talking about… you’ll have to read….no spoilers here… Just a random find 😉

And the Horsemen Arose

Just finished reading Pestilence by Laura Thalassa! Honestly, I prefer her other books over this one. I wasn’t as geeked about the story as I usually am with her books. Despite that it was still a good book. And she still remains one of my favorite authors! I will read the next in book in line for this series 😉  Trying something new for reviews as promised: Playlist, Feels, Summary  and Quote Below! (No spoilers)

He came for death. She was destined to save humanity. Until everything changed.

Favorite Quote

“After I put Pestilence’s crown on my head (motherfucking queen right here),”

From: Thalassa, Laura. Pestilence (The Four Horsemen Book 1) (p. 131). Kindle Edition

  • Feel Scale= How emotionally invested I was in the story (1= meh, 5 being wholly freeze balls, my heart is going to explode, reality doesn’t exist)
  • Story Line= Good plot? Nice writing? ( 1= meh 5= geesh…sure wish I could write like that)

New Year…. New Me? New Challenge?

It’s the new year and everyone is posting their reading goals for the year. Mine is simple: 4 books a month.  One of the four has to come from one of my past buying binges: aka books laying around my house or hanging out on my kindle crying to be read.

Separate from that challenge. Fit a non-fiction book in there somewhere: maybe one every 2-3 months? I hate non-fiction. I am an escapist, it’s hard to escape when you’re reading factual information. Plus I’m in school, I do a lot of reading and I feel like that meets my non-fiction quota. I just can’t do it, non-fiction is just not my thing. But my stepdad bought me books last year ( click here for old post ) and I still haven’t read :/ them. Its an learning opportunity as well. I won’t turn down a bonding opportunity because I’m stubborn on the non-fiction. It just will be hard to get away from all the magical powers, family drama, book boyfriends and steamy love scenes (yolo).

Last but not least: I finally have an idea for my book reviews!! I’ll give you my feels, a favorite quote from the book and *drumroll* a song that pops in my mind as I’m reading.     I’m that crazy girl who can remember the book I was reading based on the song I was listening too at the time (I have no life *sigh*).  I hope to have my first book review of the year coming up soon! I’ve met my 4 book quota already this month!! My post will be about a series I just finished from S.L. Jennings.
